Renovated Hall

At the beginning of 2011, it was clear that decisions had to be made about the future of the hall which was in need of some love and attention.  We wanted to retain the light and airy atmosphere in the hall, which along with its picturesque rural setting contributes to its appeal as a venue for all sorts of events.   To this end, during the period August 2013 to April 2014 we have carried out some substantial renovations to the hall and built a modest extension for storage purposes.

With the help of our supportive community, grants from Hampshire County Council, The Big Lottery, Co-op, Garfield Weston Foundation and a contribution from the local developers fund (East Hampshire District Council), we have spent a little over £100,000 on this work.  The hall now has a new insulated roof, insulated walls, a central heating system, a large new porch, updated security lighting and two large storage rooms which enable the main hall itself to be free of the equipment which had to be stored at one end.  We are grateful to the builder Stephen Rozario and his team who skilfully managed this project in two parts around the nursery school terms.

The Committee is now gradually replacing the building fund which previous committees had built up over previous years knowing that there will always be maintenance costs ahead.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has helped along the way. We couldn’t have done it without you.
